While there is no official confirmation of a new role for Chukwudi Iwuji in the revamped DC Universe (DCU), recent statements from DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn have strongly hinted at a future collaboration, sparking widespread speculation among fans.
Iwuji delivered a critically acclaimed performance as the stoic mercenary and secret butterfly, Clemson Murn, in the first season of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) series Peacemaker. With the transition to the new DCU, the fate of many characters from the previous iteration has been a subject of intense discussion.
During a recent podcast, James Gunn, the creative mind behind Peacemaker and the architect of the new DCU, addressed the canonicity of Iwuji’s character. He stated that while Clemson Murn as a character is considered canon, the actor’s face might not be, opening the door for Iwuji to portray a different character in the future. Gunn even suggested the possibility of him playing a “non-humanoid” role, further fueling fan theories.
This revelation aligns with Gunn’s established practice of recasting actors he enjoys working with across different projects.
